Catching Up

Thanks to Button's help, I was able to finish quite a few blankets the past few days.

I have been behind due to all of the recent family activities.
A few blankets arrived while we were gone and they have been steadily coming every week...which makes me sad.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Little Madaline Grace's blanket is a cutey.

Another blanket made by Grandma.

From what I can tell, she hand quilted it.

You know that I love that!

Due to the big teddy in the middle, I split her name to one side above the heart.

Then the feet and hand prints are on the opposite side surrounding the other heart.

Her momma blogs about her at Until I Get There....

The second set of prints I can share* are Mr. Wyatt's.

It is hard to believe that I have had this little guy's blanket for so long.

It was one of the first few requests I ever received.  However, it has been a long process.  First, I received the blanket.  Then, it was months before I received his prints.

Like most things, it is sometimes hard for the mommas to gather their items and sending your prints to me.

It's alot to bring all of it back.

I am, very often, receiving things in parts.
That's okay, though.

It is like the grief.

It rarely comes at a convenient time.  It rarely comes all at once.
And it is hardly predictable.

*Note: I embroider many more blankets then you actually see on my blog and FB.  On the request form, I always ask permission to share a blanket on my blog.  So do not fear that I will share something I have not received permission for!

My Little Helper

My Little Helper and I are finishing up embroidering big brothers' school uniforms with the school logo.

Next on the docket are some Butterfly Kisses blankets.

He thinks I need some quilting tools.

Grainy photo with iPad.  Only thing I had handy!!!

Notice the one sock on, one sock off?

Mr. Nicholas

I am so sad about this one....

Not because it didn't turn out well....

Just that I had to use the largest hoop I had on my machine.
A multipostional hoop at that.
It requires me to do the project in two steps.

Why did I need such a large hoop?

Because his prints were much larger than I usually receive.  I think I am used to small little itty bitty prints. It isn't that his aren't small. They are definitely newborn standard.
It is just that it made me think about how hefty he must have felt in his momma and papa's arms.

So yes.....just a little sad.

And to get around the thread competing with the print this time.  I decided to do it applique style.  That way his prints in off white thread really showed well on the brown cotton fabric background.

As always, I sure hope momma and papa enjoy "holding" him one more time.

Little Isaac

I never know what type of blanket will arrive at my doorstep.

Large blankets
Small blankets
Fluffy blankets
Quilts
Marshmallow blankets

Sometimes fabric because the momma has commissioned me to make a blanket for her.

This time?

A beautiful cross-stitched blanket by grandma!

I think my favorite was that there were a bunch of these.

It was a pleasure to do this for his momma!

His prints were VERY detailed and made the editing process a bit interesting.

And, of course, I am always in love with any baby's feet!

You know you can't resist either!

Once again, I am honored that you mommas share a little bit of your little ones with me.

I am so glad you do!

And thank you to Isaac's mom for the donation! My donation funds for Butterfly Kisses were getting low. It really helps with my shipping, stabilizer, and thread costs!

It was greatly appreciated!!

My Blogger Friend

"I ka 'ôlelo no ke ola"

Translation:  In the language or word is life

Our last night on the island....what a sight!

In June, I mentioned that I had a very "WOW" experience.

We had travelled to the East Coast to witness our nephew (my husband's sister's oldest son) graduating from high school.  He is the first of the youngest generation of our family.

I have known my sister-in-law and her husband for 17 years now.
I always remembered that her husband's family was of Hawaiian descent. It always interested me because I grew up looking at the uli-uli's and my mother's ukulele from the time when she lived on Hawaii and took Hula dance classes.

The Hula Dancers at the Luau

My grandfather was stationed there in the early sixties and my uncle was born there.

I would dream of what a life on a island far away would be like.

For the past 17 years, I also have heard about Roni.
My brother-in-law's sister.  Most of the conversations involved the amount of boys in our family (her 3, my sister-in-law 4, and now myself 4...WHO HAS THAT MANY BOYS IN THEIR FAMILY!)
Other conversations included how much my sister-in-law loved her!

What I didn't know?

Oh, so much!  I didn't know that we were, in many ways, kindred spirits!

I remember talking during the visit about how I really was practicing my photography skills with the new book I purchased.  I, of course, do not pretend to be a professional.
Of course, Roni's husband mentioned that Roni is a photographer.  It came out that I was just trying to improve for my blog.  My sister-in-law is a bit of a follower and said she enjoyed my blog.

Then it came out...Roni is a blogger too!  We started discussing blogger speak.  What do you use?  Have you thought of switching? How long have you had it?  Summertime being a slower blog time.  It was like blogger heaven!!

Then, of course, blog spot URLs exchanged.  Off to our perspective hotels, and of course, checking each others blogs, right?

I was flabbergasted and ashamed.

Her blog is about taking photographs using Macro.  I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY.  Her photos are absolutely gorgeous.  What a joke my photos are! Ha!!

You have to check out her blog HERE.

FROM HER COLLECTION....This is with her camera....HER CAMERA!!!!!

Better yet?  She is an unbelievable writer!
Her style is so smooth and enjoyable and DEEP!

And I particularly enjoy her choices of music that she finds inspiration from.

And to make the world a bit more smaller?

She is a babyloss mom.  There was a huge hug between us as we bid each other goodbye at the end of the weekend.  If ever I am her way again, I would love to hang out with her for awhile!

For my baby loss moms, the post HERE is her story.

Please go visit her....

After our trip to Maui, I have to believe that the spirit of Pele has gifted her with an amazing talent!

Fifteen Years Ago

Fifteen Years

Five Babies

Four Boys

Four Homes
and countless apartments

Four States

Five Dogs

And one happy family........

All together playing on the beach today!!!

I cannot believe that we have been married for fifteen years.  It has been an absolute whirlwind of happiness, craziness, sadness, and just plain wonderfulness.

I hope the next fifteen years are just as crazy and fun as the last!
